San Diego to Ensenada, 135miles
We missed the Banjercito, the spot we needed to find in order to complete our vehicle import documentation and tourist card. It cost us about $80 and 4 hours. I wonder how much the penalty would be if we didn’t complete the difficult and tedious task. My folks and sisters decided to press on. Good decision. We saw no signs directing us to where we needed to go, and once in mexico, getting out meant getting in line to cross back into the US only to come in again to make another pass at finding where we needed to be. Arduous.
After waiting for hours milling through the bureaucracy and enjoy a couple of taco-stand tacos (amie passed) we were back on our way. The cuota (toll road) to ensenada from TJ is gorgeous, with amazing views of the ocean. There is a ton of construction going on, lots of palatial gringo haciendas. Some very nice.
Lots of twists and turns and some gravel road led us to Estero Beach Resort. We were all pleasantly surprised and very impressed with our room an amenities. Best of all, we had the whole place to ourselves. No waiting for ping-pong, no sharing the hot-tub (or pool!), but for some reason the volley balls were all checked out all day long.
This place is going to work perfectly…
