Tecoman to Zihuatenajo, 260 very wet miles

Today was the most challenging day of motorcycling I have ever faced so far. We were out of the “sex motel” at 6:30am and on the road before sunrise… in the rain. It rained with only very short breaks until we threw in the towel at Zihuatenajo. It was 4pm; nearly 10 hours on the road, in the rain. I was in high spirits until about 3pm. Then I had enough. Our gear held up pretty well, although amie’s jacket pocket isn’t completely water proof (I think her IPOD is kaput), but even still, I was completely mentally and physically exhausted.
It was really coming down, visibility was very low—it was like driving with no windshield wipers or defroster. Then there was the challenge of the slippery uneven pavement with large potholes and unmarked gigantic speedbumps that bash our “bashplate” nearly every time unless I roll over with the front wheel first very gingerly, stand on the peak of the bump, then drive over with the other wheel. The bike is way too heavy. With amie and I and 150lbs of gear, its like driving three-up. I’ve been encouraging her to lighten the load, but she hasn’t really been willing to give up much yet. I’ve taken to cutting out pages of our guidebooks we don’t need, and tearing pages out of the fiction we brought as we read it. We are considering sending our camping gear to Australia as the further south we go, the cheaper hotels are getting.
I think we lost Adam. He was fiddling with his shift lever at a taco stand and told us he’d catch up. Never did. We waited at multiple points along the way thinking he’d catch us. Never did. I’m sure we’ll bump into him soon….

This will be a brief entry. I’m bushed.

Hello Sir

Surf looks good!

We began to dislike Mexico because of the Topes

As Adam would say...Hola Senor!

Would you like Chile Verde or Pizza-ass?
